Chef and Front of House Postions

CHEF POSITIONS

We are looking for two chefs, one full time, one part time, to strengthen our team at Market Place in Macclesfield.  Previous and proven professional experience is essential.  Pastry experience would be a bonus.  Our kitchen offers a breakfast and lunch service therefore early and unsupervised starts are required

At Flour Water Salt, we make everything from scratch and nothing is bought in.  Our bread is baked off-site at our wholesale bakery.  You will be comfortable making a variety of stocks, creams, custards, hollandaise, chutneys and mayonnaises.

We are looking for creative chefs who have an understanding of the seasons, a desire to continue to learn, be able to share their knowledge and contribute positively to a changing menu.

You will be expected to work a variety of shifts.  Weekdays usually start at 5am and finish at 3pm.  Weekend shifts can start as early as 2am.  You will be expected to work your share of Saturday and Sunday shifts.

Your duties will include:

  • mixing doughs for use in the kitchen
  • laminating doughs
  • preparing creams, custards and fillings used in our pastry
  • preparing sauces, stocks, hollandaise
  • preparing sandwiches
  • cooking food to order
  • helping with menu ideas
  • ordering stock
  • cleaning the kitchen

Salaried staff work 40-42 hours per week.  Part time, this will be approximately 20 hours. Starting salary dependent on experience, between £16,000-£17,000pa The position will be in our new premises at 9 Market Place, starting as soon as possible. FRONT OF HOUSE

We are looking for a strong individual to join our Front of House team.  Ideally you will have a proven background in hospitality.  Presently, our kitchen offers a breakfast and lunch service and therefore early starts are sometimes required.

Initially you will help clearing tables and keeping our pot wash clear.  Sometimes we can get flat out busy and we need someone who has a cool head and can keep up when the heat’s on.  There are opportunities to progress which include helping with table service and serving at the counter.

You’ll be:

  • experienced in working a busy café or bar.
  • friendly and welcoming to our customers.
  • efficient, working quickly & calmly
  • available to work Saturdays, plus Treacle Sundays
  • able to take constructive criticism and build upon it, helping the team develop
  • proud of your workplace and the service you provide, and motivated to maintain the high standards of cleanliness and presentation.
  • happy to muck in with daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning tasks to keep our new café gleaming.
